It was a fun night of education, networking, and entertainment at Meet NY on March 2. Unlike previous years when we fought freezing rain, sleet, and snow, it was cold but clear. However, the weather would not have mattered much as we were all under one roof at the Marriott Marquis. We had to move over from Hard Rock Café as Meet NY has outgrown the space: at more than 400 attendees, it is just too big!
Education was diverse and there was a particularly informative session on the very real threat of terrorism at your event. Afterwards, I caught up with friends from numerous properties, CVBs, and associations. It is always a pleasure to see my friend Gysela Fillingham and learn more about what Denver has planned for 2016 and beyond.
We capped the night off at the Marriott Marquis with “On Your Feet,” the smash musical about Gloria and Emilio Estefan and Miami Sound Machine’s meteoric rise in the 80s. It was a lot of fun and I had forgotten about what a powerhouse in music she had been. Josh Segarra is an actor I had not seen before and I thought he was terrific. He reminded me of Anthony Quinn in his youth. All told, it was another great year for Meet NY!
